Resume


   My work as a designer is shaped by growing up in the Midwest where clothing reflected Protestant values of modesty, practicality, and restraint. I was also raised in a post‑evangelical environment with unspoken rules around personal appearance, where clothing was meant to be unassuming rather than expressive. At the same time, I experienced spaces that valued creativity, color, and fashion as a form of personal and intellectual expression beyond rigid social and gender norms.

From early on I was encouraged to be a maker. I learned to sew from both my grandmothers: one of whom connected me to her Finnish heritage, shaped by the concept of Sisu, which is an attitude of stoic determination and resilience in the face of adversity. As I got older I discovered my own creativity and expressiveness and combined it with my love of handmade designs and quality craftsmanship. Making became not only a creative outlet, but a chance to spread joy and outwardly express myself.
